The health campus is proposed to be built on the eastern edge of Thame, adjacent to the Howland Road / Kingsey Road roundabout. The site is approximately 2.3 hectares in size and is currently farmland of limited biodiversity value, landscape value or scenic quality.
The site is an ideal location for the proposed health campus as it has the capacity to co-locate a complementary range of uses to meet the needs of Thame and the surrounding area. Options for the expansion and enhancement of current care and health facilities in the town are constrained to stand-alone facilities.
Co-location of facilities on a single site provides many benefits, including more effective use of space, integrated working and support from a single team, more specialised services, extended hours, extended patient contact time, reduced need for hospital visits and better staff retention.
